Portlands Train Sushi

June 1st, 2010

The other day Alex, Keaton, and I went to Portland for the final event of the Cricket Rail Jam Tour. We left a little early and had some time to wonder around the city and were planning on Thai Cart for lunch but Keaton suggested this little Sushi joint. It was really good and really fun. The train would cruise around the table with different food on little plates and each color of plate was a different price ranging from $1 to $3. It was a challenge sometimes to get a plate because you couldn’t always tell what was on them. The challenge came in putting the unwanted plates that were picked up back on the train before it went by. There were a couple near misses. Click more for more pictures.

Welding Rails

Hood-rails

Went over to camp today while keaton and the diggers were getting all the rails ready to go for the summer. The rail and jib features this summer are going to blow all the previous years out of the water. There are tons of new rails that have been made out of old ones, as well as some brand new stuff from KAB. They’ll been welding and painting all week to be ready for the start of the summer

So I’ve been keeping an eye the updates Windells has been putting up regarding the improvements around campus and I’ve got to say I was pretty impressed just by the photos. But after walking around campus and actually seeing whats going on, i realize that pictures don’t really do it justice. The place is going to live up to its name as the funnest place on earth this summer. Here’s a couple shots I took of some of the new stuff. Now all we need is for this rain to stop…

Hello Oregon

Hood-drive

When we were down in Mexico we found these little bobble wing penguins. They seemed a little out of place with the turtle and dragon bobbles so we picked a few up and they came back with us. On Wednesday Alex and I packed up all of our stuff in Denver and headed out to Oregon. The drive wasn’t too bad even though we left at 6pm and drove all through the night. Somewhere in Idaho or maybe Utah a giant owl swooped down right in front of the car. Other than that we didn’t have any encounters with animals on the road. Its nice to have that drive behind us

ISLA-sunset

Just got back from a pretty amazing trip down to Isla Mujeres. Its a small island right off the coast of Cancun. Alex and I were there for 5 days tohave a little vacation and shoot Mark and Whitney Koelker’s wedding. Everything went really well and we’ve started gathering the footage up for the video. Not too sure on the release date for that yet, but hopefully sometime soon. Grant Oaks was down there shooting some great photos that you can find over at his blog.

GoPro Mount

May 10th, 2010

Jordan and I had some time yesterday and went to Menards with the intention of building a car mount for a GoPro. After about 30 minutes of wandering and discussing we left Menards with random finds we thought might do the trick. It took us about 20 minutes and a bag of blue fish to get it all set up. Here’s the result:

Its getting to be that time of year again. From the looks of things its going to be a pretty good summer. We’ve got some interns hired, the Dreamfeature sessions look to be going well, Dillon got a job at camp, new camera on the way maybe. Looking forward to this year more than any other.

Drove back to MN yesterday, It took all day but was a really mellow drive. No ice, snow, or animals. Just some wind in Nebraska and about 5 minutes of the heaviest rain I’ve ever driven through in MN. I mounted a GoPro to my windshield and tried to get a timelapse all the way back. Its mostly Nebraska because I forgot to start it, then even before that forgot to charge it. It took about 1200 pictures. Here’s the results, could be a lot better, but its still fun to try.
