RAMONA-falls

We took a hike to Ramona Falls the other day. I think that 7 of us went. It was pretty amazing once we got there, a giant waterfall in the middle of the woods.

RAMONA-falls2

This picture shows how big the falls was a little better than the other. The walk back to it was about 3 miles and about 4 to get out.

RAMONA-walk

On the way out we found a log that went across a river. We all decided to walk across it. Luckily no one fell in, even though we threw rocks in next to people while walking across. Pretty fun day

Blowin’ It…

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

Its been way way way too long since i’ve upt anything here and I’ve been doing a lot of stuff. So this post is going to be longer than normal. Be sure to click on the “read more link after the first couple pictures to see it all. We’ll start things off a couple weeks back…

Hood-waterfall

Alex and I had the opportunity to go and shoot this feature with a rider from the area. Hopefully the shots make the cut for the video which will be released this fall some time. I’m not going to say much, but I think its called  “The Arena” maybe…

Portlands Train Sushi

hood-sushi4.jpg

The other day Alex, Keaton, and I went to Portland for the final event of the Cricket Rail Jam Tour. We left a little early and had some time to wonder around the city and were planning on Thai Cart for lunch but Keaton suggested this little Sushi joint. It was really good and really fun. The train would cruise around the table with different food on little plates and each color of plate was a different price ranging from $1 to $3. It was a challenge sometimes to get a plate because you couldn’t always tell what was on them. The challenge came in putting the unwanted plates that were picked up back on the train before it went by. There were a couple near misses. Click more for more pictures.

HOME-alexgas

Drove back to MN yesterday, It took all day but was a really mellow drive. No ice, snow, or animals. Just some wind in Nebraska and about 5 minutes of the heaviest rain I’ve ever driven through in MN. I mounted a GoPro to my windshield and tried to get a timelapse all the way back. Its mostly Nebraska because I forgot to start it, then even before that forgot to charge it. It took about 1200 pictures. Here’s the results, could be a lot better, but its still fun to try.

The Last Day

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

The Beav has been good all year but had to come to an end last weekend. The elk are starting to move and the heard goes right through Beaver Creek. Better to not run into one of them while riding down the hill!

LASTDAY-bus

Not the most comfortable bus ride up, but we managed to get a good spot with something to hold on to. People were eager to get up and just packed the bus full.

LASTDAY-at

I like having a camera, but sometimes hauling around a 40lb bag isn’t very fun. Gopros are so nice to have. They take good pictures and the video on them is pretty good too. Not to mention they fit in your pocket.

LASTDAY-park

We spent most of the day taking laps but eventually everyone gathered at the top of the park to hang out. Good to see everyone one last time for the year.

LASTDAY-rg

Rich got his tall-tee out and was trying to be gangsterrr all day. It was pretty funny. Check out the video

All in all it was a really fun day. It sad to see the resorts close but that just means summertime is getting closer!

Malay-Day

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

A little late on this, but last thrusday at the Beav was Malay Day. We managed to make it up and out there for it. Didn’t bother bringing a camera though, It was more fun to just watch and hang out.

MALAY-ts

It had been a while since I’d seen Sean but he was there runnin the show. They had a bunch of people sign up for the event. Its pretty cool how they run it. First they go to the half pipe, then a rail, and finally a jump. Riders are judged on how well they did overall and that decides the winner.

MALAY-db

Met up with Doug and Rich who weren’t taking the day to seriously either.

Last weekend we had the Love for the Ladies Rail Jam and Joe, Tanya, Al, and Jen came out for it. It was a big success and Everyone had a good time. We’ve got a video in the making and that should be done somewhat soon… Anyway, after that we headed up to steamboat to do some riding for a few days.

It would have been nice to have had some fresh snow, but it was great to have a sunny warm day.

STEAM_bowl

We did however find some good snow in one of the back bowls. Al and Mikey through some Tomahawks down.

GOLF-sil

Who doesn’t like driving ranges. They’re fun, but even more fun when you get to hit your ball into water. There’s a range about 10- minutes from the house called Aqua golf, and thats pretty much all it is., a driving range into a lake. I think we’re probably going to go back a lot!

Loveland

LOVE_car

So it snowed, kind of a lot in Denver and we decided to head up to Loveland for the day. Dave Grigsby came with and hooked up some passes for us. The ride up was one of the scariest ever. Going around a turn in Denver, an Explorer lost control, cut left across the 3 lanes about 50 feet in front of us and hit the guard rail head on which causing it to roll. We swerved right and as we went by the Explorer was in its second roll and seemed to be right above the drivers side of my car. We’re thinking the 4 Libtech Boards on top of the car had so much good energy, they kept us safe. But all in all, not so fun…

LOVE-car2

This is what the car looked like when we got there. It was fun to break off the snow, though i kinda kicked the right fog light cover to hard and bent it a little.

LOVE-board

And my binding got a little ice action on it.

LOVE-lift

And riding on the lift, thats it, no more shots. It was too much fun and we didn’t have all that much time up there so the camera hung out in my pocket during all the riding. Loveland is really fun and I can’t wait to go back sometime.

Mexico: Part 3

MEX-snorkel1

Right outside the Casita is Half Moon Bay, which is great for snorkeling. We spent an afternoon cruising around, chasing fish, finding turtles, diving down and coming up right under fat dudes wearing life jackets.

MEX-snorkelgrass

When my brother and I went to Akumal 12 years ago the first thing we did was jump in the water and swim out to snorkel. Right after the sand ends it turns to grass. We got a little scared and turned right around and went in. This time the grass didn’t stop us from exploring.

MEX-snorkelalex

Right after taking this photo of Alex i swam back to the top and encountered the fat guy. He’s not in frame, he’s just off to the left. That was probably the scariest thing that happened out there.

MEX-snorkelturtledive

Here’s our buddy the turtle. He wasnt too big, just a little guy. It was sweet to swim around with him and watch him chow down on some grass.

MEX-snorkelcoral

The brain coral formations underwater were amazing.  They were full or urchins and fish and I guess that there is an eel that lives somewhere around there. I’m glad we didn’t run into it. That might have been worse then the fat guy in the life jacket.
